MedicAlert Foundation to offer Free Continuing Education Program for EMS Professionals - Endorsed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Service Educators (NAEMSE)
TURLOCK, California (September 7, 2010) - The MedicAlert Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing 24-hour emergency medical information and identification service, in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical Service Educators (NAEMSE), will offer Emergency Medical Information Services (EMIS℠) training program for free to EMS professionals. Approved for Continuing Education (CE) credit through the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS), the training materials will be available to EMS educators, free of charge through MedicAlert Foundation.
“The training materials were a result of a successful collaboration between MedicAlert Foundation and the NAEMSE” says Andrew B. Wigglesworth, MedicAlert Foundation’s President & CEO. “Improving emergency response care is at the heart of both our organizations, so we are delighted to provide this vital training program to EMS educators nationwide. Our goal is to get a copy of this free program in the hands of every EMS educator.”
The MedicAlert EMIS continuing education program is designed to highlight the benefits of identification and accessing medical information services on behalf of patients, which ultimately could lead to improved patient outcomes. “The MedicAlert EMIS program will greatly benefit EMS educators and professionals, as well as their emergency response patients – the information provided will teach emergency responders how to retrieve critical patient information, which is of the upmost importance in pre hospital care ” adds Joann, Freel, Executive Director of NAEMSE.
Pre-approved for 1.0 hour of CE credit, NAEMSE will issue the CECBEMS continuing education credits to EMS professionals who complete the EMIS training. The training program is formatted as a classroom presentation and can be requested through MedicAlert Foundation’s Professional Education department at education@medicalert.org.
