Division of Injury Response - Associate Director for Science
The Division of Injury Response (DIR) is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Director for Science (ADS). Applications will be accepted from all groups of qualified persons, including non-citizens and Public Health Service Commissioned Officers. No previous federal experience is required. This is an Excepted Service position under Title 42. This appointment does not confer any entitlement to a position in the competitive service and no entitlement to Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) appeal rights.
The Division’s mission is to respond to the problem of injury by conducting research to improve injury care, building capacity for injury prevention and control in states, and monitoring and communicating injury information.
As Associate Director for Science, the applicant will participate as a member of the Division's senior management team, advising upon and performing professional and scientific work in the fields of public health, epidemiology, health economics, behavioral science and social science to support and advance the Division's support and advance specific meetings. The applicant will represent the Division in scientific meetings, colloquia, and internal CDC, governmental and external venues requiring knowledge and understanding of CDC activities as well as scientific and programmatic goals and objectives. Applicant will serve as a senior scientific advisor to the Division Director, Deputy Director and Division staff.
