It is my honor and pleasure - on behalf of the NAEMSE office staff and your Board of Directors - to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We have many challenges and opportunities as Emergency Medical Services Educators as the New Year approaches. The challenge for some will be the implementation of the Educational Standards and for others the challenge will be to assist those who struggle to the make the change. Together we will all face these challenges with confidence and assurance. As Dr. Nollette so elegantly stated in last year’s message “We live in a world and profession that knows only one thing –change.” The future of Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Medical Services Education is changing which will provide many challenges and opportunities within the EMS Profession. We are facing potential change this next year as our profession moves forward in Washington to form a federal home and establish ourselves among other healthcare and public safety professionals at the federal level. This change will not only effect the administration and the provider but will have impact on education and the educator. We are on a journey that has the potential to see the biggest change in Emergency Medical Services in the over ten years. As John Maxwell once said “We cannot become what we need by remaining what we are.”
So as we go forward with this New Year let us face it with optimism for a growing profession and the change that accompanies growth.
Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Donna G Tidwell, MS, RN, EMTP | |
