SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB) In accordance with the Grady Health System Policies and Procedures and the EMS Department Operational Manual, to develop and implement all aspects of the Department’s Training Section. Responsible for the development, organization, and implementation of education and training programs for new hires, staff continuing education and hospital-based clinical programs. To ensure that the department's mission, core values, and clinical standards of care are maintained through the training and continuing education of employees. Will coordinate with Operations Manager to provide oversight of new employee and current employees who are involved in the training process. To act as a role model, demonstrate leadership skills and a high level of clinical competence. Will be held accountable for exemplifying excellent service behavior and timely responsiveness to co-workers, patients, clients, visitors, physicians and vendors.
SUMMARY (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES) - Development and implementation of the Paramedic, EMT, Critical Care Transport and hospital-based clinical programs. - All other required and supplemental CE courses; CPR, ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS PEPP, etc. - Responsible for managing the instructional process and associated curriculum review and development. - Provide educational leadership and work effectively with the program medical director, faculty, administration, related agencies and community groups. - Serves as an instructor or evaluator as necessary. - Maintains continuous quality review and improvement of program. - Provides long range planning and ongoing development of program. - Ability to coordinate functions to acquire national paramedic program accreditation. - Ability to create lesson plans and develop needed courses, in-services, or training modules. - Ability to establish minimum competencies and evaluation tools for CE and initial education requirements. - Management responsibilities of daily training department operations. - Integrates training with all aspects of EMS department; to include, Operations, Logistics, Communications and Vehicle Maintenance. - Prepares annual division budget and is fiscally responsible for parameters set by the Vice President. - Knowledgeable about current methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students, national curricula, techniques, accreditation, registration and the requirement for Georgia licensure. - Skilled in utilizing conventional computer software applications to include word processing, database, spreadsheets, and presentations. - Clarity and discipline in communications skills – ability to write and speak English fluently. - Ability to instruct, both in group and individual settings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, EMS or other health-related science required. Master’s degree preferred. Min. of 3-5 years field experience in pre-hospital emergency care required and 2 years of EMS teaching experience at the college level preferred. Georgia Licensed paramedic or ability to acquire within 3 months. National Registry at the paramedic level preferred. Georgia Level 3 Instructor or NAEMSE Instructor Course or ability to acquire within 3 months. AHA BLS and ACLS, PHTLS or BTLS, PALS PEPP or EPC at the instructor level preferred. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. MS Office proficiency required. Valid Georgia Driver’s License required or obtainable within 30 days after hire date. Must maintain an acceptable MVR per departmental standards and be insurable by the departmental provider at the standard rate.
