Dear NAEMSE members:
On behalf of the entire board, we would like to thank all of you for your continued support of our profession and your commitment to NAEMSE. We have many challenges that face us as a profession and an organization and we are now poised to begin the process of putting together mentoring groups. I have asked Jeff McDonald, Program Director for Tarrant County College, to be our NAEMSE Mentoring Chair for national accreditation. He will work with the board to help us identify NAEMSE members who would like to serve as mentors to their fellow EMS professional educators to help get their program nationally accredited. I would like to see us do the following: 1) Identify and construct a databank of NAEMSE educators who would like to become mentors – by interest and qualification. This will give Program Directors who are or want to go through the accreditation process a one-on-one mentor to help them take the first steps.
2) Assist the mentoring group with setting up and collecting documents to be used as examples for Program Directors seeking national accreditation.
3) Identify trends in what are the greatest needs of our membership to meet their accreditation goal. May give us ideas for future workshops and classes that we can conduct with CoAEMSP. So if you are interested please send your vitae to Joann Freel the NAEMSE Executive Director at joann.freel@naemse.org. Mr. McDonald will then get in contact with you so we can begin this exciting journey together. The board is interested in setting up an Educational Standards mentoring group to assist educators with the transition to the new standards. If you are interested in this group please be prepared to send in a resume for consideration. We are excited about setting up these mentoring groups and believe that this will help our colleagues to meet their educational goals.
