Write Right! Publishing for the EMS Educator!

Presented by: Kim McKenna, RN, BSN, CEN, EMT-P, Director of Education, St. Charles County Ambulance District, St. Peters, MO & Bill Raynovich, EdD, NREMT-P, MPH,
BS, Associate Professor of EMS, Creighton University, Omaha, NE

For many people, writing for publication creates fear second only to public speaking. EMS educators are not unique in this regard. Many educators would like to – or for professional reasons – need to publish in professional journals or textbooks. The problem is often
rooted in the fact that the educator does not know where to begin – or how to structure a writing project. This workshop will focus on how to select and refine writing
ideas, find current relevant resources, develop written materials and identify avenues to publish your works. Formal content will be supplemented with brainstorming
and short exercises designed to sharpen your creative abilities and refine your writing technique. Participants are encouraged to bring some writing ideas and a laptop
to work on a submission during the presentation.

NAEMSE REPRESENTATIVES SELECTED

American Heart Association Conference
NAEMSE has selected Ms. Janet Schulte BS, CCEMTP, NREMTP from St. Charles County Ambulance District St. Peters, Missouri as the NAEMSE representative to represent the association at the American Heart Association Conference. This conference is important as it will provide information regarding the development of resuscitation science that will impact the 2010 Guidelines for CP and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). Unfortunately, the AHA allowed the EMS educators 1 spot for this conference and the response from the membership was overwhelming for representation. Ms. Schulte has been an active member of NAEMSE since 2002. She is a national faculty for PALS in Missouri and also regional faculty for ACLS and BLS. She is also the current Training Center Coordinator and has received recognition from the AHA for 30 years of volunteer work in ECC.

3rd Annual National Rural Emergency Preparedness Summit
NAEMSE has selected Mr. Leon Bell from Plainfield, IN who will serve with Mr. R. Loftus as the NAEMSE representatives at the 3rd Annual National Rural Emergency Preparedness Summit in Albuquerque, NM on April 6-7, 2010. Mr. Bell has been an active member of NAEMSE since 1997.
