Using medical Images in Education

In teaching, we often use words orally and written to describe our patients. For instance, a patient having an acute myocardial infarction would be described through lecture and on the slide as pale, diaphoretic, and with Levine's sign. The problem is, especially to the new EMS provider, is that these terms are ambiguous to them as they may have yet to ever encounter them so why not use photography to visually demonstrate those concepts that you are trying to describe through words. Taking your own photographs will allow you to take case-based learning and student-instructor interaction to the next level.
